Side 2 - "Metal Meditations with Fontana"

from 7701B - Metal Meditations by Philip Corner

/

about

"Metal Meditations with Fontana" was recorded at Elaine Summers' Experimental Intermedia Foundation. It's one of a series of collaborations between Corner and William in resonant acoustical environments--jars, metal pipes, phone booths--so that the container acts like a sound collector. "We hold up little bells where a few inches difference moves them around a room. Microphone Magic." For this recording, the room itself was a listening center, collecting street traffic noises as well as the "Metal Meditations."

Corner and Fontana collaborate here on two pages from "Metal Meditations":

"one stroke: vigorous: one resonance"
"these are twirlings, swirlings."

Also on Side 2 is a recording of the page "these two things swinging against/towards" from "Metal Meditations."
